Rei Nintone, initially code-named “RAAE” was a military-grade android gone AWOL. Initially created as an attempt in making as close to a human as possible through advanced engineering and AI, she was funded under a private, fast-growing corporation of the name of ASTRA to develop a dual processor that ran in tandem to function as closely as possible to a metaphorical equivalent of a human mind and heart, respectively. Due to financial hardships, they would hastily go to the military in hopes to continue funding the project. Unfortunately, due to desperation, the organization failed to foresee the military’s intentions, and eventually the project was usurped from them entirely. Project RAAE was quickly modified into becoming a tool for destruction. Unfortunately for them, her processors made it impossible to utilize her to her fullest extent. And due to it being hardwired into her system, it was impossible to remove it without damage. Instead, they chose to bypass that by creating a suppressor program which would subdue certain aspects of her processing. Not soon after would she’d be deployed out on missions, used primarily to intercept and destroy large machines and artillery, acting as a metallic battering ram. Unbeknownst to the military, RAAE’s innate perseverance often pushed against the suppression protocol. On a particular mission, the protocol would eventually give, inadvertently freeing RAAE. All her feelings that she had been forcibly suppressed from since it was implemented would hit her all at once, leaving the robot overwhelmed enough to cause her to shut down indefinitely within uncharted territory. For months, she was determined to be destroyed in action, and the project was soon cancelled, with the military ridding their involvement almost immediately. After some time, RAAE would start up amongst the disturbed dirt. Not knowing what to do for herself, she’d flee, flying far into the horizon without a second thought. She’d fly aimlessly until she eventually found herself taking refuge in a small town, surviving within the shadows as she tried to find means for herself in this new, unknown world. Although she was free to express again, there was an instability that lied within her processors, an overflow of feelings she didn’t know how to express. Through attempts to ease these feelings before shutting down again, she would find herself finding something even she didn’t even know she had: a voice. It was distorted and odd, but as she quickly grew to using it, her feelings which she couldn't initially control could finally be let out in a different way. Soon, RAAE would eventually allow her curiosity to lead her to the nearby town she’s often seen but never been. One day, by sheer accident, there was a tune that played amongst the crowd. She’d make her way toward a nearby store where a video game display played proudly behind the glass. A sudden new feeling would erupt within the robot, one she was not familiar with. Listening along, RAAE would hum to it, finding a sense of ease as she did so. Since then, she would come back to play that game from its demo kiosk, her eyes lighting up as she fiddled with the controls and hummed along. And after that game, she’d play another. That humming would turn to singing, that passion spilling from that robot like a waterfall. Video games unexpectedly became something RAAE genuinely enjoyed, and through that, she found the means to eventually create a career out of singing, with video games being her biggest inspiration as she shares her passion amongst the crowd. RAAE would continue to look introspectively in understanding her newfound self and mind. With her past now behind her, she decided to set forth to create a future for herself and what makes her happy. Her passion in video games would be strong enough that she even changed her name to express it: Rei Nintone.
